About

Welcome to Goldington Reading and Recreation Rooms, a charity run community centre in the heart of Bedford.

Goldington Reading and Recreation Rooms was built in 1904 by local benefactors for the benefit of local communities in Goldington, and more widely, Bedford.

Today, the venue is run and managed by a Board of Trustees, mostly local residents, who maintain the building and its facilities, often with help from local enthusiasts and volunteers, and make sure that it continues to be a welcoming space where local residents can meet and enjoy.

A thoughtful refurbishment carried out in 2018 ensured the Rooms and its facilities meet expectations and requirements of modern day social and private events, whilst preserving its unique period character.

The venue is available for a variety of regular as well as one-off occasions, such as: societies and clubs, support groups, baby play groups, wellness, fitness, yoga, reiki, tai chi, mediation, creative and crafting groups, dance classes and rehearsals, choir practices, band practices, trainings, christenings, wakes, children’s parties, business presentations, public meetings, polling station etc.

The venue has a fenced ‘Secret Garden’ which is currently undergoing a makeover and will be opened as a community garden in the near future.

Goldington Reading and Recreation Rooms is available for regular and one-off events, 7 days a week, mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
